Staying Home
Guest post from: Joe Castro
Staying at home with the kids has always been my dreams but I have to be honest and say that it’s tough for me at times to remember that I’m not in the corporate worldanymore. I used to be a lawyer and though it’s nice not being at the office anymore I miss some of the things that came with having a full-time job. I started thinking about getting back into writing and things have been great. I’ve amassed a few clients that actually don’t live anywhere near me and it’s been great for me to spend so much time with my child while answering emails and stuff on my 4G from wireless internet providers Eden Prairie. I think this is the right life for me but you know, who can guess where I’ll be in ten years. There’s something to be said for not really having a plan and that’s the point that I’m at right now.
Finding The Right Laptop
It's that time of year when students start heading back to their respected colleges for another semester in the books. It is also a great time to find the perfect deal on several desktop and laptops. Several of the leading electronic and online retail stores lower the prices on their computers or will bundle up great "Back To School" packages which would include a computer and printer for students looking to upgrade to a new machine in time for the new school year.
We have had a lot of comments on a previous post where we discussed new laptop and desktop models that were coming out at the beginning of summer and several people asked what would be better to invest in a desktop or a laptop? Although there is a lot of slim and powerful desktop models available, we recommend laptop computers especially for students. The main reason is mobility, with a laptop computer you are able to bring it with you and take notes in class, easily take it with you to work in a study hall, dorm room and bring it back home between semesters. Laptops have very large screen size and RAM now a days so with that and mobility it makes the most sense for students.
Doing Hair
Guest post from: Constance Rodgers
I love doing hair more than anything so when I turned 25 I scraped together all of my savings and opened my own salon. I know it sounds like a crazy thing to do at such a young age but it’s really been great for me to actually learn as I go. For example, when I started I had never heard of anything like bank-card-processing.com and I had no idea what an accountant actually did but now I do! I love the idea that I get to make all my own decisions and I’ve actually got clients that are all my own so all in all I think it was a really smart thing to do. I’m building a brand and really making a name for myself here so I could forsee years of success even at this tiny location where I am now! I know my parents are proud of me and to be honest, I’m really proud of myself but it’s going to take years before I’m really at the level that I want to be.

Becoming a Tax Preparer
One of the most exciting and fast-growing industries with great job opportunities in the near future is accounting, and one of the best accounting occupations you can get is that of tax preparer. There are plenty of tax preparer certification courses and resources out there, but you want to make sure the job is for you before you pursue this rewarding career.
If you are good with numbers and extremely detail-oriented, then chances are, you would make a great tax preparer. If you don’t have the patience to wade through lots of technical information and numbers, then you might want to consider an accounting position that focuses more of the social and business aspects of accounting and finance.
But if you can work at a quiet, steady pace, and don’t mind preparing taxes over and over each April, then it might be a good idea to pursue tax preparation as a career. The best tax preparers make a very good living, and you can balance your work load so that come tax time, you aren’t overwhelmed with tax paperwork. You can also work with a range of clients and communities so that you become familiar with certain types of tax preparation services.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, tax preparer certification should be your first step – after that, it’s just a few short steps to the career of your dreams!
Your Career On Paper
I was at Chipotle the other day for lunch and I noticed on the fishbowl by the register full of Business Cards as part of a "Win a Free Lunch" promotion. I pulled out one of my own cards and it really got me thinking about my business cards. It didn't even have my telephone number on it, just my email and website. If I'm going to be giving my card out to potential clients I want them to be able to get a hold of me as easy as possible and nothing is faster than a phone call.
When placing an order for your business cards there are a few important details to remember. First off make sure you have the most important content on your business cards. You want your company name, your name and phone number first and foremost. From there your title, email, fax, website and tagline are also important for your clients to have. Working with a graphic designer when working on your business cards this will help your cards turn out crisp and unique which will help set your business apart from all the other competing companies in your potential clients pile of business cards.
So take a look at your current business cards and ask yourself if you really think they are gonna make a great impression on your clients as well as the resources on the card for them to clearly identify who you are, what you do and how to get in contact with you. Good Luck!
Career Uniform #34: Scrubs!
We all know that doctors and nurses wear scrubs, but did you also know that a lot of other careers and markets use scrubs, too? Yes, they do! Some of the other types of professionals that wear scrubs include dog groomers, dog walkers, urgent care professionals and many more.
So when you’re looking for scrubs or hospitality uniforms for your career, you want to keep in mind a few things, namely: scrub comfort, style, functionality and color. Comfort speaks for itself: you’ll want to find scrubs that are comfortable, and because you’ll be on your feet all day, you want to be comfortable doing it, so this should be a big factor in the scrubs you choose.
You’ll also want to find scrubs that are stylish, full of the colors or patterns you like, and functional, meaning, they should be flexible enough to be comfortable but durable and quality enough to hold up over the long haul. It’s this combination of features that make up good scrubs, and it’s these types of scrubs that can be found at http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/.
If you need scrubs, take this into consideration during your next search, and you’ll find the scrub tops and bottoms that fit you, your personality, your needs – and most of all, your profession!
Own A Piece Hawaii
I recently attended a conference with my company in Honolulu, Hawaii and it was my first time visiting the island and I was absolutely blown away. The three day conference took up a lot of my time but for the time I was able to sight see and explore the island I fell in love with it. My business partner and I are planning a trip in October to view some real estate properties and meet with a few different Hawaii realtors while we are out there.
We are looking to pick up a property to turn into a vacation rental spot for our friends and families as well as tourists visiting the island year round. We have already set up with a contractor and a cleaning company to restock and clean the condos between guests. This is an exciting new opportunity and I can't wait to go out and take care of some work and do some more sight seeing while I'm out there. This is definitely and investment that will pay for itself.
We have a similar property set up in Corpus Christi, Texas and our profits have far exceeded our expectations. I have always believed that if you reinvest your profits you can do more with your money and get farther ahead in life and have fun doing it than if it were to just sit in your bank or wasted on frivolous items and trips. Don't get me wrong you can reap the benefits of your labor, but creating a solid financial foundation will give you the security you need to start truly enjoying the rewards from your hard work.
Finding Great Trucking Jobs
One of the best job opportunities on the horizon are trucking jobs. Why? Well, put simply, there will always be a great need to transport goods across the country, and the even better part is that just about every industry relies on truck drivers to handle their goods.
It doesn’t matter if a company is involved in technology, manufacturing or finance, chances are, there is a line of trucks at some point that transport their goods and supplies. So if you’re interested in searching for good trucking jobs, now is the best time to get involved in this industry.
Many truck drivers cite the freedom of the road as one of the benefits of the job. They also enjoy being able to work different hours depending on their schedules and routes. And if you deliver something to New York City, then you usually have time to enjoy yourself in your destination, too.
And let’s not forget pay: truck drivers have excellent salaries, and depending on the trucking company you work for, you can find well paying trucking jobs that offer great benefits and performance incentives. All in all, truck driving offers everything you could ask for: a good financial future and the chance to see cities across the country. Does that sound like a rewarding job to you? Sure does to us!
